Register Now For The 2024 Larry H. Miller Utah Summer Games

The Larry H. Miller Utah Summer Games has officially opened registrations for its 2024 programming, unveiling a new registration system provided by the Utah-based software company Arbiter Sports.

The long-standing amateur sports competition, established in 1986, is set to host 34 sanctioned competitions during the upcoming season, commencing on March 14 with wrestling. The highly anticipated Larry H. Miller Utah Summer Games Opening Ceremony, Presented by State Bank of Southern Utah, is scheduled for June 7 at Eccles Coliseum.

Jon Oglesby, Executive Director for the Larry H. Miller Utah Summer Games joined us on the radio this morning and explained the new registration system. "We have a brand new system that we have worked on to make the process a lot more efficient, and, hopefully easier for folks as the register for the games," Oglesby told us.

This year, the Utah Summer Games introduces exciting new additions to its lineup, expanding its reach to include sports such as boys’ volleyball, cheer, corn hole, drill/dance, mountain biking, and orienteering. The department is also contemplating the inclusion of additional popular recreational sports, with announcements to follow.

The decision to incorporate new sports aligns with the department's overarching goals. The Larry H. Miller Utah Summer Games department, in collaboration with various partners and supporters, is enthusiastic about welcoming participants not only from the state of Utah but also from neighboring states.

Oglesby expressed excitement about the registration opening, highlighting the department's dedication to creating a welcoming environment for participants to connect at the SUU campus and within the community. Oglesby also extended a warm welcome to new friends joining the event and participating in the newly introduced program offerings.

The 2023 edition of the Larry H. Miller Utah Summer Games saw a record-breaking 10,566 participants. Oglesby is hopeful that number will grow this year telling us, "we're hopeful to post a like a 15% growth on top of that (last years participation). That's something that we have targeted for us to grow."

Oglesby told us that they strive to achieve three goals each year. "Promote educational opportunities and access at SUU, provide consistent and sustainable economic development through sports tourism for Cedar City and Iron County and the state of Utah in general, and the third is to promote community health lifestyles through sports."
