The University of Utah Police Department is apologizing over the way it handled an award ceremony earlier this week. Two university employees and a police dispatcher were recognized during the ceremony Wednesday, in part because of how they handled Lauren McCluskey's murder case. McCluskey's parents criticized the awards, saying no one at the university or the police department was being held accountable in their daughter's death. The police department tweeted an apology yesterday, saying they deeply regretted any pain the use of McCluskey's name may have caused the family.
