>>Marshals Capture Escapee Facing Extradition Back To Utah

(St. George, UT -- A former Utah police officer is federal custody in Southern California awaiting extradition to southern Utah to face sentencing for a previous conviction. The U.S. Marshals Service says 57-year-old Philip Alan Rogers of Davis County was convicted in a Washington County weapons case last February. He reportedly cut off his ankle monitor and fled to Cambodia. Officials did not provide additional information and have not listed what additional charges Rogers may be facing.

(Salt Lake City, UT) -- A 29-year-old Sandy man will face six years in federal prison for his role in the January 6th, 2021 riot at the U.S. Capitol. John Earle Sullivan was sentenced on Friday. He will also serve three years of supervised release following his prison term and is ordered to pay two thousand dollars in restitution. Sullivan was convicted in November by a District of Columbia federal jury for several crimes, including obstructing an official proceeding, obstructing officers during a civil disorder and unlawful possession of a dangerous weapon on Capitol grounds. Investigators say Sullivan was fitted with a ballistic vest, gas mask and bull horn, when he joined other rioters storming the U.S. Capitol, taking a video of himself. Sullivan is the founder of Insurgence USA, a group that calls itself anti-fascist and protests police brutality.

 

>>Vernal Officer Is Recovering From Multiple Gunshot Wounds

(Vernal, UT) -- A Vernal police officer who sustained multiple gunshot wounds in a shootout late Saturday is in stable condition at the University of Utah Medical Center. Police say the incident began when a man was reported threatening a neighbor at about 11 p.m. Saturday in Vernal. Officers say 27-year-old Rookus R. Curry shot at law enforcement vehicles, prompting police to open fire, hitting Curry. Curry who is a convicted felon and the wounded officer were airlifted to Wasatch Front hospitals. A Uinta County deputy was treated locally for minor injuries. The Utah State Bureau of Investigations is investigating.

>>Police Seek Man For Questioning in Clearfield Shooting Incident

(Clearfield, UT) -- Police are searching for a 44-year-old man for questioning and a welfare check in connection with a shooting incident at an apartment complex in Davis County on Sunday. Three people were initially detained by police at the Clearfield Plaza Apartments at approximately 1:30 p.m. Police also found a vehicle damaged by gunshots at the scene. Police say Richard Tehero was likely shot in the foot during the incident. He was driving a black 2017 GMC Sierra with Utah license plates and is known to carry firearms and should not be approached. No arrests have been made pending the results of an investigation.

(Lehi, UT) -- A Utah County family is back snuggling with their cat who may have used up one of its nine lives taking an unplanned trip to California in an Amazon return package. Carrie Stevens Clark says Galena the cat had disappeared last week. Unbeknownst to the family, the cat had hidden in a package that Clark had ready to ship to a Los Angeles return center. The cat made the trip in the box to the destination some 700 miles from her home. Amazon warehouse workers found Galena, identifying her by way of a microchip. Despite six days with no food or water, a vet gave her a thumbs up.
