Cedar City Hospital In Top 20 For 10 Years In A Row
Intermountain Cedar City Hospital has once again earned national recognition as one of the top 20 rural and community hospitals in the United States, marking an impressive ten consecutive years on the prestigious list. The honor was announced by the National Rural Health Association (NRHA), based on data and evaluation conducted by the Chartis Center for Rural Health using the Chartis Rural Hospital Performance Index, the industry’s most comprehensive assessment of rural hospital performance.
This year’s top 20 prospective payment system (PPS) hospitals will be formally recognized during NRHA’s Annual Rural Health Conference on May 22 in Atlanta, Georgia. The recognition is based on eight critical performance indicators: inpatient and outpatient market share, quality, outcomes, patient perspective, cost, charge, and financial stability.
The consistency of Intermountain Cedar City Hospital’s performance across these categories places it among the nation’s most reliable rural healthcare providers. This ten-year milestone highlights the hospital’s dedication to delivering high-quality, accessible, and sustainable care to the communities it serves in southern Utah.
Utah Has Two In The Top Twenty
Also joining the list from Utah is Intermountain Sevier Valley Hospital in Richfield, reflecting the strength of Intermountain Health’s commitment to rural medicine. The NRHA emphasized the importance of providing hospital leaders with meaningful performance insights, praising these institutions for their exceptional impact on rural healthcare outcomes.

The NRHA, a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing rural health through education, advocacy, and research, continues to spotlight hospitals that exemplify excellence in challenging and resource-limited environments. Their recognition, along with the rigorous evaluation by Chartis, places Intermountain Cedar City Hospital in a league of its own for a decade of consistent excellence in rural healthcare delivery.
