(Durham, NC) Mitch Talbot (Canyon View High School, 2002) starting for Columbus, allowed just two hits and one earned run over 4 2/3 innings as the Clippers swept the Durham Bulls three games to none to claim the International League (AAA) championship by a 6-2 score, in North Carolina.

The 35-year-old right-hander started the season with the Sugarland Skeeters of the independent Atlantic League before having his contract selected by the Cleveland Indians and being assigned to Triple-A Columbus on June 5.

During the regular season with the Clippers, Talbot is 3-3 with a 5.37 ERA in 12 starts.

A sixth-inning, three-run homer by Bradley Zimmer gave Columbus the 3-1 lead.  Home runs by Ka'ai Tom and Daniel Johnson helped seal the Governor's Cup for Columbus.  Tom was named the playoff MVP.

Columbus awaits the results of the Pacific Coast League championship.  Round Rock and Sacramento play game three tonight in Texas, with the River Cats leading the series 2-0.  The winner will play Columbus in the AAA World Series.  (Photo and game details: milb.com)
