Don’t Open The Door…It’s Winter! KSUB News Summary
The state's long run of record warm temperatures is about to end. An incoming storm is bringing a roller coaster-like bout of below-normal temperatures and mountain snow to Utah. The National Weather Service says the first winter storm warning of the season is in effect today. An incoming storm could bring as much as 20 to 24 inches of snow to areas of the Wasatch and West Uinta mountain ranges. For the Central and Southern Utah Mountains, the weather service has issued a winter storm watch in effect from Thursday evening into Saturday morning. The watch indicates that heavy snow may be possible in the mountains of southern and central Utah, with the possibility of 8 to 16 inches. For the higher valley locations of southern Utah, such as Cedar City, a freeze warning has been issued for Thursday night to Friday morning and again for Friday night to Saturday morning. Snow in the higher valley locations is also very possible, but at this time forecasters are saying accumulations will be on the light side.
