DWR Seeks Info On Utah County Illegal Deer Kill: KSUB News Summary

Utah Division of Wildlife Resources conservation officers are seeking information about four buck deer that were illegally killed and left to waste in Utah County during last fall’s hunting season. All four deer were killed sometime between October and November 2023 in the Woodland Hills area of Utah County. In each case, the heads were removed from each deer, and the rest of the meat was left to waste. DWR officers believe the incidents could be related or possibly be the same individual responsible for killing all four deer.

Maloy Re-Introduces Daylight Act 

Congresswoman Celeste Maloy (R-UT) reintroduced the Daylight Act, legislation that would allow states to observe Daylight Saving Time year-round. In a press release Maloy stated, “Americans are tired of springing forward and losing sleep and falling back and losing sunlight. Dozens of states, including Utah, have already passed laws to make Daylight Saving Time permanent. The federal government needs to get out of the way and allow them to make that choice instead of mandating the needless practice of changing our clocks twice a year.”

Man Pleads Guilty In Murder Of Utah Football Player 

A 25-year-old man is pleading guilty to shooting and killing University of Utah football player Aaron Lowe in 2021. Buk Mawut Bu pleaded guilty to murder and attempted murder, first-degree felonies on Monday. In exchange for that plea, prosecutors dismissed additional charges of obstruction of justice and possession of a weapon by a restricted person. Buk is scheduled to be sentenced on April 29th. He faces a minimum mandatory sentence of 15 years to life in the Utah State Prison.

Hurricane AirBNB Owner Charged 

A southern Utah man is facing charges after allegedly sexually assaulting a woman. It happened last month when Jeremy Spence allegedly committed the act against the woman who was a guest at his AirBnB in Hurricane. Investigators say the guest house Spence rents out has a door that connects to his home kitchen and he entered the guest room without an invite. The 46-year-old appeared in court last week for the first time on charges that include object rape and sodomy, which are both first-degree felonies.

Improvements In Airport Tunnel Continuing 

A central tunnel walkway is under construction at the Salt Lake City International Airport. Its designer says the tunnel will give visitors the feel of walking along a river bed. The tunnel will connect concourses A and B, making the walk from security to the gate almost a quarter of a mile shorter. Upon completion, the almost 12-hundred-foot-long tunnel will have moving "sidewalks" and eventually two trams. The tunnel should open on October 22nd.
