Free Easter Performance This Weekend In Cedar City
Easter is still a few weeks away, but we have an Easter celebration coming up this weekend, and it should be a great way to kick off the season.
The presentation is called Lamb of God and was created by Rob Gardner. This musical performance will be held this Sunday and Monday at the Canyon View High School Auditorium. There is no cost to attend. Doors open at 6:15pm and the performance will start at 7:00pm
This production is being directed and conducted by David Jordan, while the choral performance is directed by Jackie Jackson.
Over the years, Easter has become a more significant holiday for me. Of course, as a kid, the focus of the day was on the Easter Egg hunt, and the goodies in the Easter Basket. It was the best day for candy following Halloween!
I think those things are certainly a part of our celebrations, and can be the catalyst for a great family gathering.
But now, to me, Easter has a much deeper meaning. Easter is one of the most significant holidays in Christianity, celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, as described in the New Testament of the Bible.
According to Christian belief, Jesus was crucified on Good Friday and rose from the dead on Easter Sunday, symbolizing victory over sin and death and offering the promise of eternal life to believers.
Easter is considered the culmination of the Passion of Christ, which includes Lent—a 40-day period of fasting, prayer, and penance.
Easter actually makes penance, or repentance, possible.
To me, it is a symbol of the ultimate second chance, over and over again. Easter is both a sacred observance and a joyful celebration of renewal and hope.
Some of the most significant memories and moments in my life have happened on Easter.

So, we have a chance to gather as a community this Sunday and Monday evening to usher in the Easter season at a time where we could all be uplifted by some renewal and hope.
