After signing legislation requiring parental permission for minors to have social media accounts, and then defending that action before the national media, Utah's governor went one step further this week.

Governor Spencer Cox said on Monday he would "absolutely" support a federal ban on the popular TikTok app. Cox is one of a growing number of public officials who have banned the app from state and local government devices. On Monday he referred to a statement issued when he ordered the ban in December. Cox's statement read, "China's access to data collected by TikTok presents a threat to our cybersecurity."
