OK, it's not just Derral Eves, it's his friend Dallas and all the folks at The Chosen. They've got my number, and I think they know it. But, Derral went to and graduated from SUU, and when he is home, which I'm guessing isn't much these days, it's here in southern Utah. So, he's kind of like a neighbor, so I'll pick on him.

I asked AI to define a fan, as in a fan of a movie or tv show and here's what it came up with.

A fan, in the context of a movie or TV show, refers to an individual who shows strong interest in and support for a particular film, television series, or its associated actors, characters, or universe. Fans typically engage with the content by watching it regularly, discussing it with others, following news and updates, collecting related merchandise, and sometimes participating in fan activities like conventions or online communities. Their enthusiasm can range from casual enjoyment to deep passion, and they often form a dedicated audience that contributes to the success and cultural impact of the movie or TV show.

Yeah, that didn't seem to fit the bill for me, so I asked AI for a definition of a fanatic, and here's what it came up with.

A fanatic is a person who exhibits extreme and uncritical enthusiasm or zeal for a particular cause, activity, or belief. This intensity often goes beyond normal levels of interest or support and can sometimes lead to obsessive or irrational behavior. Fanatics are deeply devoted and can be very passionate, sometimes to the point of disregarding opposing viewpoints or evidence. While the term can be used in various contexts, it often carries a connotation of excessive or unbalanced fervor.

That seems to be more spot on when it comes to how I relate to The Chosen. Just ask my kids.

That's why when at the first of the month, when Mr. Eves and company hosted an eight hour event called 5&2 Day, on May 2nd of course, I was there...pretty much the whole day. 5&2 Day gives fans – and fanatics – the opportunity to get updates on the show. And of course we also have the opportunity to obtain Chosen gifts at some really incredible discounts. Which of course we did, as you can see in the picture.

I kept telling myself, you really don't need that...as I clicked on the order button.

So this week when we got the text announcing the start of season 4 on streaming, my wife knowingly texted me “so...new gifts Sunday” (which was told to us in the attached video). She knows me to well. Plus, she will probably make and order or two herself.

We're pathetic.

That's why when we stream the start of season 4 this coming Sunday, it will not be the first time we will be watching the season. Or the second. Or the third.

As I said, we're pathetic

But we do love The Chosen, and the uplifting message it brings to all of us. And we really are happy to support the show by going to see it in the theater, buying gifts, and making contributions.

If you've be waiting, like we have, for season 4 to start streaming, the wait is over Sunday, June 2nd at 5PM Mountain Time on The Chosen app and social media pages. There will be a livestream and, yes, gift offerings. I'd try putting my debit card in the freezer, but it wouldn't stop me.

Anyway, I'm putting out notice that I will be unavailable Sunday evening. The house will be dark to make it look like we aren't home. And I'll ignore texts and phone calls, too.
