Immerse In English Culture: SUU And University Of Winchester Forge Study Abroad Connection

Southern Utah University (SUU) is thrilled to unveil a new study abroad partnership with the University of Winchester in Hampshire, England. This collaboration offers students from both institutions the chance to engage in enriching educational experiences within diverse cultural settings, broadening their academic and personal horizons.

The exchange program allows SUU students to immerse themselves in the historic city of Winchester while earning credits toward their degrees. Known for its rich heritage, Winchester is a quintessential English town, renowned for its medieval architecture, bustling markets, and the famous Winchester Cathedral. Located just an hour by train from London, Winchester provides a perfect blend of traditional English charm and easy access to the vibrant capital.

Through this partnership, students from SUU can study at the University of Winchester for one or two semesters. Likewise, students from the University of Winchester can spend a semester or two at SUU. A key advantage of this program is its affordability—students continue to pay tuition to their home institution, allowing them to use existing financial aid and scholarships. This arrangement makes the study abroad experience accessible to a broader range of students, minimizing financial barriers.

The University of Winchester offers a wide range of courses that align with many of SUU's academic programs. Students can pursue studies in fields such as Business, Education, Family Life, Humanities, Social Sciences, Engineering, Computer Science, Health Sciences, and Performing Arts. With experienced and supportive international student staff on hand, SUU students will receive assistance in selecting classes, securing housing, and adjusting to life in a new country.

The picturesque setting of Winchester, combined with the university’s robust academic offerings, makes this an attractive destination for SUU students looking to expand their global perspectives. Students interested in participating in the exchange program can begin studying at the University of Winchester as early as Spring 2025. The application deadline for the spring exchange is September 15, 2024. Eligible students must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and have completed at least one year of university study before embarking on the exchange.
