In Search Of Utah’s Best Chicken Sandwich
Maybe it's the marketing of Chick Fil A. I was all about the hamburgers whenever we went out to grab a quick pick up, or event to a sit down place that was more on the casual side. It was a predictable as the sun rising in the east, I would order the hamburger and be on the way.
On the other hand, my wife would almost always take a chicken entree. According to her, “I could eat chicken every night.” Well, more and more, I find myself leaning toward a chicken sandwich.
No, I haven't forsaken hamburgers and beef products, but I will almost equally alternate between beef and chicken when we go out to dinner.
Any of you who have listened to me on the radio know I am actively campaigning to get a Chick Fil A in Cedar City. (Yes, I know, there is the one at the student center on the campus of Southern Utah University, but if I have to get of my car- and traipse across a student car filled parking lot – it just doesn't count.) And Zaxby's and even KFC are on our list of regularly visited restaurants.
So, I was intrigued by this listing from My Frying Pan showing what they considered to be the best chicken sandwich in each of the states.
According to them, we will have to travel up to the Wasatch Front, to a place that I had not heard about until I read the story. According to My Frying Pan, Utah's best chicken sandwich is found at an establishment called The Pretty Bird. They have four locations in northern Utah, and it wouldn't bother me if they decided to set up shop somewhere here in the southern part of the state.
According to their menu, the Pretty Bird chicken sandwich is a boneless chicken thigh, enhanced by Pretty Bird Cider Slaw, pickles, and Pretty Bird sauce all on a buttered bun.
By the way, I've never understood the fascination with pickles on a chicken sandwich, but that's just me.

Think it might be worth a stop, next time I'm up that direction. If someone's going to give me the bird, at least this time it will be pretty.
