TRAFFIC SUCKS! We can all agree on that! But everyone is not willing to agree on the "Zipper Merge"! But it's FAR MORE EFFECTIVE!

What is a Zipper Merge? According to the Colorado Department of Transportation, a Zipper Merge is specifically set up for vehicles to merge from two lanes into one lane in a zipper fashion. This keeps traffic flowing. Each car should alternate zipper fashion into the remaining open lane just before the point of closure.

With the Zipper Merge, this means you stay in your lane until the road actually forces you to merge into a new lane. DO NOT MERGE MILES IN ADVANCE.

In March of 2022, the Utah State Legislature has passed a new law to require drivers to zipper merge when approaching a closed lane on a congested road. States across the country are adopting these laws to help cut down on traffic, and it's actually helping! The Zipper Merge is cutting traffic down by a whopping 40%!
