National Smile Month

We are now in national smile month which caused me to want to dig into Utah’s smiles and see who needs a bright light shone on their love of those pearly whites. I mean we are known as a friendly state, so we smile a lot.

Plus, we have some pretty dazzling smiles among the Utah celebrities, but as I looked into it one name seemed to shine brightest, a name that might have been overlooked during our National Smile Month.

Utah Loves Smiles

Utah’s oral‑health culture is no joke: statewide campaigns like Your Smile Matters work year‑round to boost prevention, education, and access to care for every Utahn, helping families build healthier, happier smiles through community outreach and school‑based programs through utahoralhealth.org. And while the campaign focuses on long‑term oral health, it also highlights the people who make Utah’s smiles stand out.

A Utah Smile Hero

One of those people is Staci Stout, a 2025 Remarkable Women honoree and dental hygienist who has spent more than 30 years bringing oral care directly to Utahns who need it most.

She helped change Utah law in 2015 so hygienists could provide care outside traditional dental offices — a shift that allowed her to bring mobile dental hygiene services to seniors, schoolchildren, and underserved communities across the state If National Smile Month had a mascot, it might just be Staci rolling up with her portable equipment and a grin that could power a small city.
