Southern Utah Movie Theater Upgrades
What Would Bring Utah to Movie Theaters?
Would yummier snacks delivered to your seat do it?
How about custom movie start times where you begin your movie in a private theater when you arrive?
Or themed rooms that match the movie you're watching?
Why do I ask? Well, the largest theater chain in the U.S. has committed to a $2.2 billion plan to renovate theaters to lure us back to the movies. We're talking about eight major theater chains, including AMC Entertainment, Regal Cinemas, and Cinemark. The plan is to create renovations that moviegoers will notice as an upgrade from their current movie-going experience.
So far, they're talking about modernizing theaters with enhanced projection technology, improved snacks, upgraded audio systems, and new seating options.
What would do it for you?
Seating
I know reclining seats have spoiled me, and if I have to sit straight up anymore, I feel a little put out. I know I'm spoiled, but at home, I can recline to my heart's content.
Snacks
This is one of the reasons we still flock to the theater. I know they're overpriced and sometimes under-flavored, but I'm a sucker for the ease of having them so conveniently there for me. What would you want in your snack options? It wouldn't be too hard to get a refill, so I don't have to miss any of the movie.
Screen and Projection
Screens have been a testing ground for some time, with larger, 3D, and wraparound options, but what would make it exciting for you? Interactive viewing, like Smell-O-Vision? I know if they made the movie too interactive, I wouldn't be excited to see *Dune* in the summer heat of Southern Utah.

How to entice audiences back to the theater is a tough question, I think small gestures like a friendly ticket taker, someone to refill snacks, and maybe mid-movie foot massages could turn my head.
