Utah, Your Skin is Begging: Stop This Showering Mistake Now
Back when I ran competitively, I had a colleague who was incredibly active. He was faster, stronger, and involved in multiple sports. One of the ways he flexed his athletic dominance was by telling us how often he had to shower because of his intense activity.
About a year later, he soberly announced to our team that he had visited a dermatologist. He learned he was showering too frequently and was advised to cut back on his soaking time.
This was the first time I'd heard of such a thing—until recently. Apparently, we can all be a bit too aggressive with our bathing habits. According to this article, the worst shower habit many of us have is simply doing it too much.
This isn't about the "save the water" campaigns that swept the globe a few years ago. This is about your skin's health.

If you overdo the soaking, especially in hot, steamy water, you’re going to strip the oils from your skin. That’s the point, right? Well, to a degree. Too much soaking, though, and you start removing the healthy oils that keep your skin nourished and smooth.
There isn’t a magic number of showers you should take each week because everyone’s skin and cleansing routine is different. So, get to know your body and the products you use, and keep an eye on how your skin feels. If it has that healthy glow you love, you’ve found the right balance.
