
This Surprising Topic Is What Utahns Are Doomscrolling Now
Doomscrolling has never been more prominent than right now in the U.S. and Utah is a place where people do it A LOT.
Everyone is guilty of doomscrolling at some point, but it seems to be worse than ever at the moment. Not only that but it isn’t just funny cat videos or good news, it all seems to be doomscrolling for bad news.
Utah’s Most Searched Internet Topics
A study from All About Cookies looked into the states doing the most doomscrolling and which topics have mesmerized them. It seems that news is the topic keeping folks up late at night.
This isn’t super surprising with the state of the world but, with many things looking bleak, it would seem better to try and find some light. That just isn’t the case, at least not in Utah.

Utah came in No. 4 for states doing the most doomscrolling and searched topics like mental health, finances, crisis events, and social media related terms. Here is Utah’s score:
- Overall Doomscrolling-371.6
- General Doomscrolling Terms-77.5
- Emotion-Based Terms- 65
- Financial Worries-65.5
- Social Media Related-47.3
- Specific Crisis or Events-54.6
- Mental Health-67
Basically, Utahns are doomscrolling some pretty serious topics. However, Washington was the worst state for doomscrolling overall with a score of 394.3. So, at least Utah isn’t at that level yet.
Even more surprising is that people are actually searching for bad news in search engines and then doomscrolling. This seems to be a trend of seeing bad news and finding it on purpose.
