Steven D Harris was arrested and booked in to the Iron County Jail early Saturday morning, charged with aggravated assault the produced loss of consciousness among other charges. The arrest stemmed from a stabbing incident that took place at about 6:00PM on Friday, March 15th. At that time, Cedar City Police responded to the Fiddlers Canyon area on a report of the stabbing. Officers arrived to find a male subject who had a “substantial” loss of blood. He was transported to Cedar City Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Another subject suffered minor injuries. Harris was arrested at an apartment at 199 E. Canyon Commercial Ave. at about 1:30 in the morning.

Virginia Man Arrested In Southern Utah Now Charged With Human Trafficking

A 33-year-old Virginia man first under arrest in southern Utah for investigation of misdemeanor drug charges now faces charges involving human trafficking. Police say Denzel Jerome Waddy was charged Friday in Utah's 5th District Court with aggravated human trafficking, a first-degree felony and aggravated exploitation of prostitution, a second-degree felony. Waddy was taken into custody at a St. George hotel. He was arrested on the strength of an outstanding warrant for multiple charges from Virginia, as well as for investigation of marijuana possession and possession of drug paraphernalia. Detectives interviewed a woman found in the same room who says Waddy forced her to engage in sex work and had physically assaulted her.

Two Former Utah Businessmen Go To Prison For Investment Fraud

Two Utah businessmen are going to prison for their participation in a multi-year investment fraud and money laundering scheme. 68-year-old Kevin Griffith of Orem was sentenced on March 15 to twelve years and six months in prison. 57-year-old Alexander Ituma of Lehi was sentenced on March 15 to eight years and four months in prison. Both men were convicted of crimes that include defrauding over a dozen victims around the world of more than 18-million dollars. An Arkansas man and an Idaho man were also convicted in the fraud scheme investigated by the FBI and the IRS. Both men were part of a scheme that used a complex web of bank accounts to launder stolen funds. In August 2023, the defendants were convicted of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, multiple counts of wire fraud and conspiracy to commit money laundering.

66 Year Old Ogden Woman Charged For Making False Report

A 66-year-old Ogden woman is facing a charge in connection with the false reporting of an active shooter. Police say Kristy Lynn Visser was charged Monday in 3rd District Court with emergency reporting abuse, a third-degree felony. Police say that in late September she was in the parking lot of a business near 400 West looking into vehicles before she was asked to leave. Visser then went to another business where she asked an employee to call police and report an active shooter in the vicinity. Police responded to that call at which time Visser told them she had seen the shooter run into a nearby building. After an investigation involving police at the scene, no shooter was located.
