
Missing Winter Yet? Utah Is Feeling The Heat: KSUB News Summary
The National Weather Service is advising that heat advisories and warnings are in place for much of Utah this week. Salt Lake City, Cedar City, and even Logan are predicted to hit triple digits temperatures during the week. Salt Lake City predicted with a high of 100 degrees Tuesday. That number will rise to about 105 degrees by Thursday. No relief is expected until the weekend. NWS says an excessive heat warning goes into effect at 9 a.m. on Wednesday and remains in effect until Friday for most of the state of Utah.
Utah CEO, Daughter Killed In Crash
Utah company Lifetime Products confirms its CEO and president, Richard David Hendrickson, and his daughter, Sally, died in a car crash in Ogden this past weekend. Utah Highway Patrol says at about 1 p.m. on Saturday the family was eastbound in an SUV that was towing a boat up the narrow canyon road. Their SUV collided with a truck carrying a bulldozer heading in the opposite direction. The impact caused the bulldozer to crash onto the SUV. Other family members were also in the SUV and received non-life-threatening injuries. Company officials noted Hendrickson began as a welder and progressed through multiple corporate levels. Utah Gov. Spencer Cox and Utah Sen. Mike Lee both expressed their condolences. The accident is under investigation.
Police Investigate Shooting In South Salt Lake
South Salt Lake police say they are looking for several suspects following a shooting this past weekend. Officers were called to the scene after shots were fired near Helm Avenue at about 1 a.m. There were no injuries reported. Bullets reportedly hit a nearby vehicle and residence. Police ask anyone with information to contact the department.
Cedar City Hospital Workers Honored
Two Cedar City Hospital workers are being honored for their work during flooding last year. Jody Johnson and Tom Giles were each recently given the "Response of the Year" award by the Utah Emergency Response Association for their actions during the flooding that impacted Cedar City Hospital. The association said their work helped patients continue getting care "close to home" instead of having to go to St. George or other hospitals.
