Police are alerting the community to beware of moose that are lingering near the base of the Deer Valley Ski Resort. Park City officials are monitoring a group of the animals that show little fear of people or cars along Deer Valley Drive. Police advise motorists to drive slowly past any moose they may encounter. Utah's Division of Wildlife Resources reports the state is home to as many as three thousand moose. The species is the largest animal in the deer family, and may weigh up to twelve hundred pounds and reach a height of six feet at the shoulder.
