Police Incident Shuts Down I-15 In Cedar City: KSUB News Summary

Several agencies are involved in a police incident that shut down both directions of Interstate 15 Monday afternoon. UHP reported this as a high risk stop. UHP officials reported pursuing the vehicle on northbound I-15. They used tire spikes on the vehicle and it came to a stop near mile marker 58. The driver was un-cooperative with troopers as they attempted to have the driver exit the vehicle. The incident has been resolved and northbound and southbound lanes of I-15 are new open, but Cedar City Police are informing motorists that there is still the possibility of delays in the are. Legislation Could Set Rules For Use Of Social Media By Children In Utah

New legislation being proposed in Salt Lake City would change the way minor children use social media across Utah. The Social Media Regulation Act would require social media platforms to verify if a user is a minor and if so, would then require the child to obtain parental consent before opening an account. A public hearing on the legislation is scheduled for November 1st at the Utah State Capitol.

Guilty Plea From Former SUU Employee

A former Southern Utah University employee is pleading guilty after he threatened to shoot several people. Last December, 47-year-old Steven Baggs threatened to shoot school employees and students along with Cedar City officials and prosecutors. Baggs has pled guilty to a threat of violence charge and a theft by extortion charge.

Local Massage Therapist Arrested

A southern Utah massage therapist is facing charges, accused of assaulting multiple patients. The Cedar City Police Department says Tyler Braun was arrested recently after several victims came forward claiming they were sexually assaulted by the 42-year-old. The department noted the victims were customers at the Cedar City Massage Parlor, with one explaining to police how she was in fear and couldn't keep the assault from continuing. It's unclear how many victims there are, but Braun was taken to Iron County Jail.

70 Year Old Killed In Vehicle Vs Train Crash

A man in his 70s is dead following a crash involving a train in Carbon County. Police say the crash happened Sunday on the tracks at Nick Lane and 800 East in Price. The man's identity has not yet been released and the cause of the crash continues to be investigated.
