For one Saturday in October, I know exactly where my wife will be. Like many other breast cancer survivors, she will participate in the annual 5K walk / run organized by Power In Pink Iron County.

Held in conjunction with Breast Cancer Awareness Month, for this year, that event will be this Saturday, October 21st. The day will start at 8AM and is scheduled to go to 11 O' Clock. It will be held at the West Canyon Park here in Cedar City. All the proceeds raised for the day will go to assist breast cancer survivors.

Breast cancer awareness campaigns aim to educate people about the importance of early detection, regular screenings, and the significance of supporting those diagnosed with breast cancer. Fundraising events, like the walk / run here in Cedar City and other activities are organized around the country under the banner of "Power in Pink" to raise funds for research, support services, and community outreach programs related to breast cancer.

The color pink is often associated with breast cancer awareness, and the phrase "Power in Pink" emphasizes the strength, resilience, and unity of individuals and communities affected by breast cancer.

Power In Pink Iron County was founded some eleven years ago by area breast cancer survivors. They are a 501c3 nonprofit organization with a primary goal of raising funds for those who are battling breast cancer.

Most of their fundraising events take place in the month of October. Power in Pink Iron County is working with the Iron County School District for the Iron Strong Breast Cancer Fundraiser.

For the event this Saturday, participants will need to be registered. The general registration fee is $35. SUU students can register for $15, and breast cancer survivors participate at no cost.

Power In Pink Iron County has a mission to raise funds and awareness locally for community breast cancer survivors and their families in the battle against breast cancer. Along with that, Power In Pink Iron County honors local women who have passed away from breast cancer.
