Beginning April 1, visitors to Bryce Canyon National Park seeking private stock rides will have a streamlined reservation process available through Recreation.gov. This digital system replaces the previous method of contacting park staff during business hours via phone or email. Information regarding private ride reservations and wrangler-led horse and mule rides can be accessed at go.nps.gov/BryceHorse.

Private stock rides accommodating up to 10 riders will be offered every half hour from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. between May and October, contingent on weather and trail conditions. Reservations for the entire season will open annually on April 1 at 10:00 a.m. Eastern Time, with a $1 processing fee per reservation to cover Recreation.gov services.

Jim Ireland, the park superintendent, noted that this transition aligns with the digital pass and campground reservation options already available on Recreation.gov. In a press release Ireland further said, “it also gives private stock owners the ability to better plan their visit. By moving reservations online, Bryce Canyon visitors will be able to view available time slots and book their next ride , 24 hours a day, 7days a week.”

Bryce Canyon National Park offers over five miles of horse trails for both private and wrangler-led rides.

Previously, since 2015, private stock riders had to reserve specific times by contacting designated park staff during business hours, often resulting in multiple calls or emails and potential delays due to staff availability. With a significant increase in private stock usage since 2015, moving to an online self-reservation system addresses the growing demand more efficiently.
