(Cedar City, Utah) - At 750am Wednesday (2/5/25) morning, classes at Canyon View Middle were on "hold" with a "controlled entry" as Cedar City Police, including the school's assigned School Resource Officer swiftly investigated a threat issued on social media.

The officer determined there was no danger to students.  The hold was lifted at 805am, and a student was taken into custody.

A press release on CCPD's Facebook page stated that, "all students are safe and school has returned to normal."  The release also noted that Canyon View High School (across the street from CVMS) was placed in a "secure action" for the same period of time.  Classes at the high school are also back to normal.
