SUU’s Nursing Program Shines With National Recognition Once Again
Southern Utah University (SUU) has once again earned national recognition for its outstanding nursing program. The university announced in a press release that its Department of Nursing has received the Nursing Colleges of Distinction Award for the 2025-2026 academic year. This marks the sixth consecutive year that SUU’s nursing program has achieved this honor.
The award is presented by Colleges of Distinction, a nationally recognized organization that helps students and parents navigate the college search process by highlighting institutions that demonstrate excellence in education. The Nursing Colleges of Distinction Award is given to programs that exemplify a commitment to student engagement, academic stability, and hands-on learning experiences.
Several Factors Contribute To Selection Process
The selection process evaluates several critical factors, including student engagement, validation from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, consistent academic excellence, high National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) pass rates, and the availability of diverse clinical opportunities.
“With a shortage of capable nurses in Utah, it is increasingly important that nursing programs focus on student success,” said Professor Suzie Campbell, Department Chair of Nursing, in the press release announcing last year’s award. “This award, along with other awards that SUU has received, is evidence that SUU Nursing is preparing compassionate, skilled, and proficient nurses.”
