Southern Utah University is moving to help more Native American students get a college education. The University announced this week that it plans to waive all tuition for students who are members of Utah's eight federally recognized tribes. Administrators of S.U.U.'s Utah Native American Tuition Gap Award say many Native American students have been admitted in recent years but not many have enrolled. University records show that only 84 of the 450 Native American students who were admitted last year had enrolled and taken classes as of October. Information about the program and how to apply is available online at suu.edu/finaid.
