Cedar City Welcomes Back The Midsummer Renaissance Faire
The Utah Midsummer Renaissance Faire returns to Cedar City this week, running Wednesday, July 16 through Saturday, July 19, with festivities held at Main Street Park. Board Member Rick Bryant joined the Big Picture Morning Show on KSUB radio to preview this year’s event, which promises more entertainment, food, and activities than ever before.
“We have nearly 100 vendor booths at the fair this year,” Bryant said in the interview. “We’ve had to create new booth space on the south side of the children’s playground.” The fair is free to attend, with operating hours from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday.
Visitors can expect a wide variety of food, including crowd favorites like tacos, Thai dishes from Temple of Siam, and of course, turkey legs. “Turkey legs will be there. Last year, the gal nearly killed herself trying to keep up,” Bryant joked.
Free Entertainment Throughout The Park All Day Long
Entertainment is plentiful with roaming characters like Sage the Fairy, a mermaid lagoon, and even a pirate ship with a slide for children to explore. Aerial performers from Colorado’s Oleta Ariel will showcase acrobatics with hoops and silks. Belly dancing returns with groups like the local Ra Kumba company performing throughout the week.
Bryant highlighted a new magician, Frank the Curiosity, from Parowan. “He’ll be performing for us, and on Friday and Saturday at 5 p.m., he’ll be conducting a magic class. It’s only 20 bucks a person,” Bryant said.

Music includes the Celtic band Thistle & Knot from St. George, performing on the second stage Saturday. The fair also features face painting, henna tattoos, Funtime Inflatables, and twice-daily processions.

“There is no admission,” Bryant emphasized. “You get to come on the park and participate in a Renaissance Faire for free.” For more information, visit umrf.net.
