Utah Shakespeare Festival and Utah Summer Games Announce 2025 Collaboration
The Utah Shakespeare Festival (USF) and the Larry H. Miller Utah Summer Games (USG), two of Southern Utah’s most cherished traditions, are teaming up in 2025 to provide a unique experience that celebrates both athleticism and the arts. Both organizations are based on the Southern Utah University (SUU) campus in Cedar City and draw thousands of visitors each summer.
This new collaboration aims to strengthen community bonds and enhance the experience for attendees of both events. “The Utah Shakespeare Festival and the Utah Summer Games were both created by visionaries: Fred C. Adams and Gerald R. Sherratt,” said USF Executive Managing Director Michael Bahr in a press release. “Their vision was always about bringing people together in a communal celebration of art and sport. How wonderfully poetic that their vision is being strengthened through this collaboration.”
Opening Ceremonies Set For June 6th
The festivities begin with the USG Opening Ceremony on Friday, June 6, 2025, at 8 p.m. at SUU’s Eccles Coliseum. The event will feature a performance by Neon Circus, a Brooks & Dunn tribute band, and the largest fireworks show in USG history.
In return, USF will host “Utah Summer Games Night at the Festival” on Thursday, June 26. USG athletes can receive two free tickets and up to four half-price tickets to that evening’s performance of Macbeth in the Engelstad Shakespeare Theatre. Athletes can reserve tickets by calling 800-PLAYTIX and must show proof of USG registration when picking up their tickets.

“It is an honor to collaborate with the Utah Shakespeare Festival,” said Jon Oglesby, USG Executive Director, in the release. “This initiative invites our athletes to enjoy the Tony Award-winning programming of the Festival.”
Guests are also invited to attend The Greenshow at 7:10 p.m. that evening, which will feature a Scottish Highland Games theme to tie in with the USG celebration. Additional Festival discounts are available throughout the season, which runs June 16 through October 4.
