Cedar City Events Director Highlights “Love Where You Live” Campaign
The Love Where You Live campaign returns to Cedar City this February, bringing a wave of community spirit and fun opportunities for residents to celebrate their town. Organized by Cedar City's Events Division and sponsored by the Cedar City Rotary Club, the campaign highlights local pride through activities for both students and the wider community.
For the second year in a row, third-grade students across local schools are invited to participate in an essay contest on why they love living in Cedar City. Students’ essays will be judged by a panel, including members of the Youth City Council, and three winners will be selected to read their essays during a City Council meeting. Both students and their teachers will receive prizes as part of this initiative.
“This campaign is about fostering a sense of belonging and pride in our community,” said Brandon Burk, Director of the Cedar City Events Division. “We want residents to take a moment to appreciate the beauty, history, and people that make Cedar City special.”
This year, the campaign extends its reach with activities for the entire community. The iconic “LOVE” letters will be displayed either at Mayor Square or in front of City Hall, depending on construction schedules. Residents can take photos with the letters, post them on social media, and bring their photos to the city utility desk to be entered into a drawing for prizes donated by local businesses. Participants will also receive a custom “Love Where You Live” sticker.
Adding to the celebratory atmosphere, red lights will illuminate Main Street trees, while themed banners will adorn streets throughout February. “This is a great way to brighten the winter months and remind everyone why Cedar City is such a wonderful place to live,” Burk said.
While February is all about love, the city is also preparing for the Cedar City Star Search, a talent showcase that will be held on March 15 at the Heritage Center. Auditions will run from February 1–21, and details about submission categories and prizes are available online.
