Cedar City Is Ready To Party This Weekend
Are you ready to party with 19,999 of your neighbors this weekend. If the folks at the Cedar City Rotary Club have their way, that is exactly what will happen Saturday at the annual July Jamboree.
Randy Allen is the president of the Rotary Club here in Cedar City and Martin Haeberle is the chairman of July Jamboree, and they joined us on the radio to talk about the festivities planned for this year.
“It's going to be exciting, and we hope everybody at all around Cedar City and the surrounding areas will come and have fun with us this Saturday, July 13th, 4:00 PM to about 9:30 or 10 right in the center of town on Main Street and in Main Street Park.” Allen said to begin the segment.
One of the big draws to the jamboree is the Classic Car Show that is held up and down Main Street overflowing to the Main Street Park. As to how many cars will be on display? This year Haeberle says it will be 350.
And it’s more than just the cars. “We have over 150 vendors that are not food just food vendors, but all kinds of vendors there,” Haeberle said. Plus, there will be bands playing and a variety of live entertainment.
So, how much is this going to cost you? “It's all free to the public. So we invite everyone to come out and enjoy this wonderful community event that we have,” Haeberle continued.
And about those 20,000 people? “That's what we're hoping for this year. We had, we estimated, around 15,000 last year and we're hoping to get 20,000 this year coming to see and enjoy this event,” Haeberle said.
But there’s more to July Jamboree than just a good time. Through the jamboree, the Cedar City Rotary Club can fund-raise for charitable causes in our community. Through sponsorships and vendor fees, the Rotary Club has been able to raise around $100,000 this year.
“We raise money and then we give it to charity in, in our city here,” Allen said continuing “it's a large event. It's a big investment in our community from our local businesses. What happens is (these), monies we turn around and it goes back in our community. One of the projects that you people will be aware of is we just funded the new upgrade to the electricity down in the Main Street Park.”
The Rotary Club also helps with organizations such as the Iron County Care and Share, the Iron County Sheriff’s Department and many others in the area.
The July Jamboree is not just an event but a celebration of community spirit. It brings people together, supports local businesses, and provides a platform for showcasing the unique culture of Cedar City. Whether you’re a local resident or a visitor, the July Jamboree offers a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the best of what the town has to offer.
