Ready for a little stroll in the moonlight? Then this is the weekend for you.

Cedar City’s popular Moonwalk & 5K Run returns this Saturday, August 9, 2025, offering a festive nighttime race experience under the glow of the full moon. The event invites both serious runners and casual walkers to participate in a family-friendly evening along the scenic East Bench Trail System.

Timed Or Non-Competitive? Your Choice!

Participants can choose between a timed 5K run or a non-competitive 5K moonlight walk. The evening kicks off at the LDS Pavilion parking area at 1120 W. Greens Lake Drive, with on-site check-in beginning at 7:30 p.m. The race starts at 9:30 p.m., and all participants are expected to finish by 11:00 p.m. Shuttle service will return runners and walkers from the finish line at West Canyon Park (Ann J. Gardner Park) back to the starting area.

Now in its annual summer tradition, the Moonwalk combines fitness with community fun. This year’s finish line will feature a foam party, live music, bounce houses, and photo booths. All participants will receive glow-in-the-dark shirts, and race finishers will earn medals, while walkers enjoy moon pies and keepsakes.

Beyond the fun, the event supports a local cause—30% of all entry fees will be donated to Iron County Care and Share, a nonprofit that assists community members facing housing and food insecurity.
