A man accused in a stabbing incident at a Cedar City trailer park was taken into custody Wednesday morning after a SWAT response and neighborhood evacuation near North Main Street.
According to the Cedar City Police Department, officers were dispatched at approximately 10:25 p.m. Tuesday after Cedar Communications received a 911 call reporting a stabbing near the trailer park located at 1027 North Main Street.
Victim Had Several Stab Wounds; In Stable Condition
When officers arrived, they located an adult male suffering from multiple stab and cut wounds. The victim was transported to Cedar City Hospital in serious condition. Authorities said the victim has since received treatment and is now listed in stable condition.
Police said the suspect fled the scene before officers arrived, and an initial search of the area was unsuccessful. A reverse 911 alert was later sent to nearby residents advising them to remain aware of the situation and contact authorities if the suspect was seen.
During the morning hours Wednesday, neighbors reported the suspect had returned to the trailer park and entered another trailer in the area. Due to the seriousness of the incident and concerns for public safety, the SWAT team was activated and nearby residents were temporarily evacuated while officers secured the scene.
