
First Responders Save Boy Trapped Under Vehicle In Cedar City
A serious accident involving a young child and a vehicle prompted an emergency response Monday morning in Cedar City.
At approximately 8:20 a.m., Cedar City Police officers were dispatched to the 1100 North block of North Field Road after reports of a collision in a parking area. According to officials, an adult female driver was backing an SUV out of a parking space when the vehicle struck a seven-year-old boy who was riding a scooter behind it.
Injuries Include Head Trauma
The child sustained significant injuries, including head trauma, and became pinned beneath the vehicle. Officers arriving on scene worked quickly to safely extricate the child before immediately initiating life-saving measures, including CPR.
The boy was transported by Gold Cross ambulance to Cedar City Hospital, where he was stabilized before being airlifted to Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City for further treatment. His current condition has not been released.

Authorities say the incident remains under investigation, and no additional details are available at this time.
In the aftermath of the accident, the Cedar City Police Department expressed appreciation for the coordinated response from assisting agencies, noting the importance of teamwork among first responders during critical incidents.
Police Use Incident To Issue Safety Reminder
Officials also used the incident as a reminder for drivers to remain vigilant, particularly in areas where children are present. Increased caution is especially important during morning and afternoon hours when children are traveling to and from school. Drivers are urged to carefully check their surroundings when backing out of parking spaces or driveways to help prevent similar accidents.
