The U.S. Department of Justice is taking the Beehive State to task over its alleged mistreatment of "youth and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities." Yesterday, DOJ officials accused the State of Utah of failing to help youth and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities during the day, instead of helping them find work and spend their days with other members of their communities. Officials also claimed that the state's workshops are often located in industrial warehouses, where workers enjoyed minimal contact with other members of the community and, in some cases, performed repetitive tasks in exchange for sub-minimal-wage income.

Aggressive Dogs Cause Havoc At Roy Park

Three aggressive dogs are penned up after they bit two people, horse and even some police officers yesterday at a Roy, Utah park. Local police say they got the call around 4 p.m. Monday about the disturbance at Emma Russel Park. Officers called to the scene reportedly found the trio on the park's west side, where they were seen "being aggressive and attacking horses." Police say the officials used catch poles - and in one case, a bean-bag round - to bring the rowdy beasts to heel. Two of the dogs were taken to the Weber County Animal Shelter for quarantine. The third - the one hit by the bean-bag round - was taken to an animal hospital.
