In Perspective, Utah’s Weird Food Doesn’t Seem That Weird

Weird. The word in and of itself is subjective. When the presidential campaign was underway, many politicos described at the time candidate J.D. Vance as weird. Some people who still do old style things, such as still carrying some cash with them are viewed by many as weird. Believe there are aliens secretly kept out at Area 51? You're weird. They've been moved to Area 52.

Anyway, you get the idea. What some tag as weird, may, in fact be not that far of the acceptance of normal in given segments of society. I've been called weird in my life, and it doesn't bother me.

So, the folks at CHC Travels took to Tik Tok to proclaim the weirdest food in every state in America. Before we get to the food described as the weird one for Utah, which I'm sure won't surprise you, let's discover what foods are considered weird in the states around us.

To the east, CHC says that Colorado's weirdest food would be the Rocky Mountain Oyster. If you know, you know. If you don't know, I'd just as soon not tell you. Suffice it to say, I would not be ordering them if I stop at a Colorado eatery. And if someone brought something looking like meatballs to me in that state, it would be a hard pass.

To the southeast of us in Arizona, CHC says the weird food is the Scorpion Sucker. Can I just say, no thanks?!? Bon Appetit describes it as

Cubes of translucent red, yellow, orange, or blue candy and flavoring on a stick—each one with a crunchy and dead surprise inside.

Yummy!

South and west of us in the Silver State it's the Cotton Candy Burrito tagged with the weird food label. This one I think I could try. It's ice cream and various other toppings wrapped in a so called tortilla of cotton candy. It's probably messy as it can be, but sounds kind of delicious.

North and west of us in the Gem State CHC Travels tags the Ice Cream Potato as the weirdest food. I mean it's Idaho. Could it be anything else?

In Wyoming to our northeast,for some reason, they say that the Chuckwagon Breakfast is the weird food. It's weird to me that this was the pick for Wyoming. After all, it is the Cowboy State. What's more natural there, than a big breakfast outside followed by a campfire scene reminiscent of the one from Blazing Saddles?

So, I'm sure you've guessed that THC Travels calls our Green Jello Salad the weird food here in Utah. I'm not surprised. But a dead scorpion in a sucker?
