A Utah filmmaker has proven the experts wrong by producing a beautiful series that tells a compelling story. Filmed in England and Utah, "Seeking Persephone" has people paying to watch it like crazy on Amazon.

Facing Industry Skepticism: A Creative Journey

There are so many lousy productions getting pumped out of Hollywood, you would think someone with talent and a good story could snag some of that funding, but the people holding the purse thought they new better. This local filmmaker had to take another route.

After one of the most successful crowd funding campaigns for his project, Joh Lyde from Utah still had a tight budget to work with. With a lot of pre-planning and building some sets on a sound stage in Lehi, the story was brought to life.

The Power of Storytelling: A Bold Pursuit

One of the keys to the success of the project is the story. In an article from KSL, Lyde says he was told that making a Regency Romance was a waste of time. Believing in the power of storytelling, he went forward anyway.

The story comes from another talented Utahn. Author Sarah M Eden has written several novels, and Lyde saw the potential for a screen adaptation in “Seeking Persephone”. It featured intimate scenes in castles and cottages that could be done on a budget.

Skilled Craftsmanship Can Do Wonders

However, you would never know the final product was so carefully planned and it shows the skill of all those who worked on the film. There is a reason it is one of the top series getting views on Amazon right now.
