A Summer Survival Checkup for Your St. George Devices and Your Sanity

St. George in the summer is a vibe — and by “vibe,” I mean a 112‑degree convection oven where everywhere is hot and we are physically present but mentally poolside. It’s the season when we forget where we put our keys, our kids, and occasionally our entire sense of responsibility. And while we’re out here mentally vacationing, our technology is quietly absorbing all the consequences.

Now It's Personal

The importance of this advice hit me when I turned on my laptop that had sat a little too long in the little to toasty car and now the battery won't charge. Yeah, I think I might have fried the battery.

Protect Your Devices Before They Become Lava Rocks

The first part of the problem is the increased heat. Activities that used to be safe for your device are now doom town. Leave your phone in the car in February and it is annoying, the same activity in summer means your phone is choking on the heat. Here are some spots to be aware of:

  • Your dashboard
  • Out in the direct sun,
  • Your pocket while you are enduring some natural hot yoga.

Remember your devices hate heat and that is the bumper crop offered most days in our beloved southern Utah desert.

If it's not Physical it Might be Mental

Especially in these hot areas it seems we are either on vacation or mentally on vacation. The relaxed routines of summer might catch up with your device health. A device playing tunes poolside can slowly cooking on the inside, even if it is in the shade.
