School is out in Utah and it is putting a strain on some families that are just getting by. The Utah food bank is stepping in to help with their Summer Food Service Program that helps fill the gap when students can't get school lunch.

Supporting Children in Need: The Summer Food Service Program

“Summer can be an especially tough time for families,” says Ginette Bott, President & CEO of Utah Food Bank. “When schools close, many children no longer have access to the free or reduced-price meals they rely on during the year.:

At the same time there is more need from the food bank, the donations slow down in the summer months. This is where the Summer Business Food & Fund Drives can make a big difference.

"That puts added pressure on families already struggling to make ends meet," said Bott. "Unfortunately, summer is also when donations tend to drop, making it one of the most challenging times for us to meet the growing need.”
