Can Utah Expect Summer Rain? The Forecast Isn’t Promising
Utah is one of the states that seems to be in a never-ending drought in the West, even with monsoon season on the way.
The latest forecast for Utah, Nevada, Arizona, Colorado, California, and New Mexico is looking a bit bleak which is how it has been for the last few monsoon seasons. Even short bursts of rain in Utah which the state used to experience in past Julys have come to a halt.
Monsoon Season Utah 2025
According to the National Oceanic and Administration, the monsoon season for the West officially started on June 23 but only hit New Mexico and West Texas. The other states like Utah, Nevada and Arizona are awaiting their first monsoon.
The season goes through September, so there is still time for Utah to get that much needed rain.

The analysis from NOAA said that the four corner states are experiencing even more severe drought conditions this year. However, even with a solid monsoon season, it only makes up about a quarter of the west’s water supply.
Utah isn’t expecting any significant rainfall so far in July but could see some short bursts in the latter half of the month. The Arizona-New Mexico border is expected to see some drought improvement, NOAA predicts.
Unfortunately, Utah, especially the southern area, may not see much rain again this year which also means no fun summer thunderstorms. The heat will persist, and the weather will stay hot as the beehive state continues into summer and early Fall.
