It's time to recognize Southern Utah educators and local businesses for this year's Southern Utah STEM awards.

This event is hosted by Utah Tech University, Southern Utah University, Dixie Technical College, and Southwest Technical College to recognize educators and businesses in the community who support STEM and an exceptional level, a UT press release said.

The Southern Utah STEM Awards are for kindergarten through high school educators.

“STEM education plays a crucial role in shaping the future by inspiring and equipping students with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate the complexities of the modern world,” Jessica Davis, director of STEM Outreach at Utah Tech University, said. “Our local educators and community members are creating amazing opportunities in this space, and this awards night allows us to celebrate them and all they do for the youth of Southern Utah."

Nominations for businesses and educators will be open until Feb. 29. You can submit your nominations here www.suu.edu/stem/stem-awards.html.

"As we look ahead, we are eager to continue this tradition of recognizing excellence in STEM education,” Dylan Kirklin, director of Southern Utah University’s STEM Center for Teaching and Learning, said. “The collective effort of teachers, professors, instructors and businesses contributes significantly to preparing the next generation for the challenges and opportunities of the future.”

There will be a banquet for all the nominees on April. 24 at the Utah Tech campus.

"We need help knowing who to recognize,” Davis said. “If someone knows of a teacher or community member who is doing amazing work in the world of STEM education, we ask that they please take a few minutes to nominate them for an award.”
