Little Roy Lewis and Lizzie Long Bring High-Energy Bluegrass to Cedar City
Cedar City Music Arts continues its dynamic season with a performance by bluegrass legends Little Roy Lewis and Lizzie Long on Tuesday, March 4, at the Heritage Center Theater. The duo, known for their energetic performances and exceptional musicianship, promises an unforgettable evening of entertainment.
Marty Warburton of Cedar City Music Arts shared his excitement about the upcoming concert on the Big Picture Morning Show on KSUB. Fresh off a weekend at a bluegrass festival in Lake Havasu, where he served as emcee for 5,000 attendees, Warburton emphasized the talent and stage presence of Little Roy Lewis.
“Little Roy Lewis has been playing music professionally since he was six years old,” Warburton said on the radio program. “He turned 83 last Monday, and the guy acts like a 17-year-old who just drank a Red Bull. You have to see it to believe it.”
Little Roy Lewis, a longtime staple in the bluegrass world, performs alongside Lizzie Long, a multi-talented musician and his adopted daughter. Warburton praised Long’s skill, noting, “She’ll raise the hairs on the back of your neck. She plays the fiddle, guitar, banjo—you name it.”
The performance is the fifth event in Cedar City Music Arts’ seven-show season, bringing world-class talent to Southern Utah. Warburton described the duo’s style as pure bluegrass, “maybe a little left or right of center,” but ultimately a high-energy, family-friendly show filled with expert musicianship.
In addition to the concert, Cedar City Music Arts actively engages with the local community, providing educational outreach programs for students. “When logistics line up, we bus in hundreds of Iron County students for a Q&A session with musicians,” Warburton explained. “It’s amazing to see kids experience live music up close and understand how it’s made.”
The Heritage Center Theater, a premier performance venue in Cedar City, offers an intimate setting for the show. Warburton encouraged locals to attend, saying, “If you don’t have a season ticket, you can still get tickets at the door. This is one of those concerts people will be talking about.”
Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with the performance starting at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available at the Heritage Theater box office or online at CedarCityMusicArts.org.
