Little Twist Fire Now At 10% Containment
The Little Twist Fire, situated four miles south of Beaver, Utah, has burned 2,305 acres with containment now at 10%, thanks to the relentless efforts of the 243 personnel assigned to the incident. Despite the steep and rugged terrain in this remote area, fire crews have made significant progress, employing a variety of strategies and tactics to control the blaze while prioritizing safety and efficiency.
Aerial resources continue to play a crucial role in minimizing the fire's spread, particularly in areas that are difficult to access. These resources have been instrumental in slowing the advance of the flames, allowing ground crews to establish and reinforce containment lines.
However, fire behavior is anticipated to become more active today. Forecasters are predicting an increase in fire weather conditions, including warmer temperatures, decreased relative humidity, and gusty winds throughout the afternoon and into the evening. These conditions pose additional challenges to containment efforts and may lead to increased fire activity.
The existing area closure order remains in effect to ensure the safety of both firefighters and the public. This closure is critical for preventing accidents and allowing fire crews to work without interference.
Smoke from the Little Twist Fire will continue to be visible from surrounding areas, including major highways such as I-15, I-70, Highway 89, and Highway 20. Local visibility may be reduced due to the smoke, which is also influenced by fires burning in neighboring states.
Residents and travelers are advised to stay informed about the fire's progress and adhere to any road closures or safety advisories. The cooperation of the public is essential in ensuring the success of containment efforts and the safety of all those involved in battling the Little Twist Fire.
