Miniature Wargaming Tournament Coming to UTAH in November 2024
For many in Utah the Idea of going to a Table-Top Wargaming Tournament means having to make an expensive trip to Las Vegas or Los Angeles. Many would have to travel great distances to join the ranks of nerds that have a healthy or unhealthy love of playing with toys competitively. The world of Table-Top gaming is now getting an event here in Utah where players in the state do not have to travel as far. Coming in early November this year to the Utah Valley Convention Center in Provo is the Utah Open.
"The Utah Open is going to be an epic Frontline Gaming partner event taking place for the first time ever this year!"
This event is produced by Frontline Gamming with the help of dedicated Utah based clubs and appears to eventually be near as popular as other such competitions like the Las Vegas Open. Warhammer:40K Is a hobby that millions of fans across the globe love and adore. So it would be no surprise that this event will do well in the coming future.
What is Miniature Wargaming?
There are multiple ways to enjoy the world of Miniature Table-Top Wargaming, not just with the competitive side of the hobby. To be able to play in general requires a player to have a number of physical miniature models to represent different military type units, all with there own stats and characteristics. Players take turns to move units across a battlefield in order to take objectives, survive an encounter, or just eliminate your opponent.
The main attractions in the world of miniatures is not the same for every player. For some, the competitive aspect of actually playing against an opponent and strategize a plan of attack and defense is all the thrill one needs to enjoy the game. Others enjoy the creativeness of building and painting the models. This is where most of the time and money investment comes into the picture.
There is no consistent set of game pieces that come in a single box set but multiple model kits and books to put together to completely customize an army to you the player. And many find that just putting together modeling kits and painting the miniatures to be just as fulfilling as playing the game itself. Not many have a mind for strategy but are incredibly artistic and creative in creating a mini diorama in each unit.
The lore behind each faction, unit type, and individual character is most likely to be the unifying factor in all enthusiasts of the hobby. The stories and the continuity of any and every faction, army, or character is what most fans love about any fandom, not just in the world of Warhammer.
The tales we love to tell each other and learn about, especially in worlds that have been decades in the making and well thought out with complexity, can boggle the mind and thrill generation to come. It is almost never just one aspect of the game that entices players to keep up with this hobby but whatever it is, enjoy it.
