Red Cliffs Temple Dedicated

President Henry B. Eyring, Second Counselor in the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, led the dedication of the Red Cliffs Utah Temple on March 24, 2024, marking a significant milestone nearly four years after construction began. Speaking at the temple’s dedication sessions in St. George, Utah, President Eyring expressed the unique joy found in serving within the temple, emphasizing the deep personal significance of the area to his own family's history according to a press release.

President Eyring reflected on the faith of his ancestors, particularly his great-grandfather, Henry Eyring, a pioneer of the St. George area who served in the St. George Utah Temple. The presence of a second temple in St. George is a testament to the enduring legacy of faith and dedication.

The Red Cliffs Utah Temple holds special significance for many Latter-day Saints, complementing the historic St. George Utah Temple, which was recently rededicated and stands as the oldest operating temple in the Church. The new temple, announced in 2018 and located amidst Utah’s majestic landscapes, represents one of 28 temples either dedicated, under construction, or undergoing renovation in the state.

Inspired by the natural beauty of Southern Utah, the temple’s design incorporates motifs reflecting the area's environment, with a palm tree-lined entrance welcoming visitors to its sacred halls. Set against the backdrop of the Red Cliff mountains, the temple serves as a symbol of peace and serenity.

President Eyring, joined by other Church leaders including Elder Patrick Kearon and Elder Kevin W. Pearson, emphasized the transformative power of temple attendance, citing its role in strengthening faith in Jesus Christ and fostering love for family and community. In the dedicatory prayer, President Eyring invoked blessings upon all who enter the temple, praying for an increased sense of God’s presence, hope, and a desire for closeness to the divine.
