Alexa Lord, a 2023 graduate of the Walter Maxwell Gibson College of Natural Sciences at Southern Utah University (SUU), has been admitted to the prestigious Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine, which boasts an acceptance rate of only 4.5%. Alexa will commence her studies in the summer of 2026, following a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. This remarkable achievement is a testament to both Alexa's dedication and the quality of SUU's pre-medical program.

As a biology major and chemistry minor with a perfect 4.0 GPA, Alexa was honored as the 2023 college valedictorian. Her scientific success extended beyond academics; she conducted an undergraduate research project on the kidney function of student-athletes, showcasing her commitment to advancing medical knowledge.

After earning her bachelor's degree, Alexa chose to remain at SUU to pursue an MBA with a focus on healthcare administration. This decision allowed her to continue one of her passions—basketball. As a five-year member of the SUU Women's Basketball team, she played a crucial role in securing the team’s first conference tournament title and NCAA tournament appearance during the 2022-23 season.
