Talkin’ Turkey In Utah? Head To Cache Valley!
This November, you can learn about wild turkeys in Utah and perhaps even spot a few by visiting the Hardware Wildlife Education Center in Cache County. Located at the Hardware Wildlife Management Area in scenic Blacksmith Fork Canyon, the center will host a special "Turkey Tales" exhibit on select weekends. The exhibit will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on November 1-3, 8-10, and 15-17, offering free family-friendly activities.
While the center typically opens in the winter for sleigh rides and elk viewing, November provides a unique opportunity to explore Utah’s wild turkeys. “We can’t guarantee you’ll see wild turkeys during your visit, but there’s a decent chance you will,” said Marni Lee, Director of the Hardware Wildlife Education Center in a press release. Dozens of wild turkeys roam the wildlife management area, making fall and winter ideal times for sightings.
In addition to the Turkey Tales exhibit, visitors can enjoy craft projects, story times, and an educational walking path with animal-themed activities. The exhibit itself shares fun facts and fascinating information about the biology of wild turkeys, a species that many Utahns may not know resides in the state.
To reach the Hardware Wildlife Education Center, drive 15 miles from Hyrum on state Route 101, taking in the vibrant fall colors along the way. Be sure to keep an eye out for wild turkeys as you make your way through Blacksmith Fork Canyon. Visitors can also enjoy fall fishing in the Blacksmith Fork River.
