CEDAR CITY, Utah - The Western Athletic Conference named senior guard Tevian Jones this week's Player of the Week.

Sensational Start

Last week, Jones scored 20 points when Southern Utah opened the WAC slate with an impressive 79-75 win at New Mexico State. Jones followed up this performance with another great game at home against UTRGV. Jones helped lead the Thunderbirds to a 94-88 victory with 21 points adding a pair of rebounds in the contest. In both games last week, Jones shot more than 70 percent from beyond the arc.

Jones has led the Thunderbirds in scoring the entire season and is one of the most potent scorers in the WAC. Jones averaged just more than 20 points per game this season. His season high, 31 points, came when the T-Birds squared off with former Big Sky conference rival Northern Arizona just before Christmas.

Coach Todd Simon Says…

"Tev was outstanding, He is an explosive scorer and caught fire in a big win at New Mexico State and remained consistent hitting five three-pointers again in our home win against UTRGV. Tevian continues to be a great leader for us."
