A delegation from the Switzerland-based International Olympic Committee is coming to Utah this week to take a look at proposed venues in connection with the Salt Lake City-Utah bid to host the 2034 Winter Games. The committee will also be in the French Alps later this month on a similar mission to look at that region's desire to host the Games in 2030. Both communities have presented bids that now have preferred host status, as determined by the committee. These visits are part of the committee's new less formal selection process. If all goes well, the formal award of the two Olympic venues could happen when the committee is set to meet before the start of the 2024 Summer Games in Paris.

Hill Air Force Base Neighbors May Hear, Feel Detonations

People living near Hill Air Force Base may hear some loud sounds this month. That's because detonation operations will be taking place at the Utah Test and Training Range. The detonations are expected to happen once or twice each week, and will last into September.
