Aggie Ice Cream Crowned Utah’s Best Parlor
As a kid, I would spend my summers at grandma and grandpa's house. I had friends who lived in my grandparents neighborhood, one of whom had a pool, where I spent many a day trying to keep cool. We were also close to Disneyland, so I got to go there once or twice a summer (until I realized just how expensive it was). Yes, I'm old enough to remember the coupon books where the E ticket was the cool new rides while the A ticket was like the merry-go-round. They were good days.
Now, of course, we know the role of the grandparent is to spoil the grandchild, and ours was no exception. That's why, if we desired, we could have ice cream every night. To be honest, ice cream wasn't my favorite desert, but it was hard to resist.

As I moved into my teenage and young adult years one of the favorite places my friends and I would go to was Farrell's Ice Cream Parlour. They had a dish you could buy called “The Trough.” Yeah, you get the idea. Finish it on your own and you got an award and a shirt that proclaimed “I made a pig of myself at Farrell's.” I never won the award.

America still continues to have a love affair with the cold creamery treat. A recent ranking by LoveFood suggests that Utah may be home to one of the nation's finest examples. In its list of the best ice cream parlor in every state and Washington, D.C., the publication selected Aggie Ice Cream in Logan as Utah's top destination for frozen desserts.
Aggie Ice Cream Is Part Of The USU Community
Aggie Ice Cream is more than just a popular stop for locals and tourists. The creamery is part of Utah State University and traces its roots back to 1888, giving it a rich history that few ice cream shops in the country can match. LoveFood praised the creamery for its exceptionally creamy texture and its signature flavors, including the famous Aggie Blue Mint, a flavor that has developed a devoted following among Utahns and visitors alike.
Should I ever be up in the Cache Valley, I'll have to drop in and see what Aggie Ice Cream is all about. But for those of us in southern Utah we certainly have several ice cream options. People from all over the west make it a point during their travels to stop in Beaver to visit The Creamery.

Americans continue to demonstrate a strong appetite for ice cream. According to Colorado State University's Food Source Information program, the average American consumes nearly 22 pounds of ice cream each year. While consumption has gradually declined from its peak decades ago, ice cream remains one of the country's most beloved desserts, with millions of gallons produced annually and enjoyed in homes, restaurants, and ice cream parlors across the nation.

The LoveFood ranking places Aggie Ice Cream among an elite group of parlors recognized from every corner of the country. For Utah residents, however, the selection comes as little surprise. Whether it's Aggie Blue Mint, a rich chocolate flavor, or one of the creamery's seasonal offerings, generations of Utahns have already discovered what the rest of the country is beginning to learn: some of America's best ice cream is made right here in the Beehive State.
