Winter Blues, Utah? Don’t Worry, The Girl Scouts Are Coming!

I needed a ray of sunshine today. It's been kind of a down couple of days. First of all the reality that the holiday season is really done sunk in. Spring training is still over a month away. And it turned cold. So, a little ray of sunshine was welcome. And it came in the form of this announcement on the website of the Girl Scouts.

Girl Scout Cookie Season happens only once a year—and the official start date in your local council, Girl Scouts of Utah, is in just 5 days!

Can there be anything better to lift a spirit?

Girl Scout Cookies have become a beloved tradition, eagerly anticipated by cookie enthusiasts every year. These delectable treats not only satisfy sweet cravings but also contribute to a noble cause, making them even more irresistible.

From the classic Thin Mints to the iconic Samoas, each cookie offers a unique taste experience. The Thin Mints, with their crispy texture and minty chocolate flavor, are a timeless favorite. The Samoas, on the other hand, boast a perfect combination of caramel, coconut, and chocolate, creating a heavenly blend of textures and tastes.

Beyond the delectable flavors, what makes Girl Scout Cookies truly special is the sense of nostalgia they evoke. Many people fondly recall their childhood days when they eagerly awaited the arrival of the Girl Scout Cookie season. Now, the reality is that there will not be Girl Scout Cookies in town on January 14^th (though I would suggest that there should be!) but the process for the year will begin then.

At some point I can go to the “cookie finder” on the Girl Scout web page, enter my zip code and they will ship them to me. That just doesn't sound as fun. If I can wait a little longer (highly doubtful), in springtime there will be Cookie Booths in some of the local stores.

But this does not address the Thin Mint crisis going on in my house at the moment.

The theme for the cookie sale this year is “Unbox the Future.” And there is more than just cookie selling going on. Through these sales, girls learn about goal setting, entrepreneurship, time management and more. Plus, the money they raise will stay within the local council allowing the girls to enjoy experiences such as summer camp and troop service projects.

The excitement surrounding the annual release of Girl Scout Cookies is palpable. People eagerly engage in discussions about their favorite flavors, share tips on where to find the best cookies, and even participate in cookie-selling challenges to support their local troops. It's not just about the cookies; it's about community, connection, and contributing to a cause that matters.

I know I'm excited. And I really do want to help our local Girl Scouts “Unbox the Future.” But they way I will do that will be by “Unboxing my Thin Mints.” The sooner the better.
